Charity
Collection
Everyone
who went to the HQ at Priors Marston will be aware of the collecting box to raise
funds for David Adams who was running in the London Marathon on the same day as
our event. David is the owner of Pentoy, just 50 yards from the HQ, and he allows
us to use his forecourt for additional parking. He was raising money for 4 charities,
The Blind Business Association Charitable Trust, Royal National College for the
Blind, British Pigmentosa Society and the Priors School. The
collection for charity resulted in £14.42 in the box, plus prize donations
from David Watson and Gary Hipwell of a further £26.
David is registered blind, but says he "can still see a bit down the middle". He ran the marathon with his son Simon who acted as his guide runner. They clocked 5 hrs 38m 57s, so he was delighted to get well inside his 6 hour target, with no injuries. The day after he was still exhilarated, having raised about £5,000 so far for the four charities.
