John Tuckley
John Tuckley was our Club Secretary for more than 20 years. He came to cycling through supporting his son Toby, and in the 80s and 90s competed in his own right. He was an above average rider and actually won our club 4-Hour time trial in 1988. More recently our members will have known him as one of the team helping in pushing-off and timekeeping on Wednesday evenings. John had suffered from arthritis for many years and had lived through the pain barrier for most of that time. He was never without medication and had had surgery on his hands and wrists. Despite this he tried to carry on as normal and was still riding his bike every week. He passed away in Abergavenny hospital in S Wales, where he had been admitted after feeling unwell while on a family holiday. He was diagnosed with Septicaemia and despite treatment in intensive care his condition deteriorated. He was 62. Our thoughts go out to his family for this unexpected loss. He leaves his wife Carol, three grownup children and six grandchildren.
