Rugby RCC's new K11/5 Course
After much deliberation we have decided it's time to move away from the old Willoughby-Grandborough circuit. It's become busier with local traffic and a Give-Way sign has been planted on the bridge before Grandborough. Our new course, devised and measured by Mike Bloom, is just around the corner and is based entirely on the A45. It's effectively our Braunston course which loops around the Dunchurch island and back, except that we start and finish half way down the course at Willoughby. The description is as follows:
Start on the A45 at the marked point about 300 yards north of the Barby/Willoughby cross roads, proceed northwards to -
Turn at the 1st island, located just north of M45 flyover, take 3rd exit to retrace (2.557 miles)
To finish at the marked point almost directly opposite the start. (5 miles)
Parking is in the same lane as before, ie off the A45. Just all park on the same side!
Note that removal of the Willoughby-Grandborough circuit does not affect the 7.25 mile circuit which starts and finishes at Grandborough Fields and passes through Sawbridge and Grandborough. This is far less twisty and passes through less habitation than the 5-mile course, so for now at least it will remain on our list.
