Results of 4-Hour Time Trial - held 16th September 2007 - Handicap & Vet on Standard

Each rider's handicap is based on their 25 mile handicap. A survey of previous 4-hr results indicates that most riders manage an average speed of 82% of their 25 mile average speed. This is used to calculate a target distance over 4 hours, then each handicap is obtained by taking the target from 90 miles. Some riders achieve better than 82% over 4 hours - which is why this year's top 3 have a good record on longer events.

No official VTTA distances exist for 4 hours, but the VTTA have provided advice. The Vet on Std distances have been based on the VTTA's suggestion of 82.5 miles for a 40 year old (male). Distances for other ages are applied in the same way as other VTTA times and distances are calculated. This year the strong winds slowed everyone, so only 4 out of 11 beat the standard.
