Results of 4-Hour Time Trial - 12th September 2010
A bright sunny day and a gentle breeze, almost ideal conditions for a 4 hour time trial. There were 23 competitors, less than last year, with some noticeable absentees. The course had a temporary diversion which took riders away from roadworks on the A428 and through Kilsby, adding an extra 2.038 miles each way, previously measured by Mike Bloom. The event was won by Peter Wright for the second year running, pressed closely by Adrian Tayles who came within less than a mile of his total distance. This year everyone made it back to the finishing circuit, but this was the first time we had a broom wagon just in case, thanks to Sean Conway and Keith Hirons. Many thanks also to the timekeepers who once again did an excellent job - one that's boring at first, but gets quite frantic after 12 o'clock! As always these results are provisional at this stage - if anyone feels there is a significant discrepancy from what they themselves measured we can re-visit the timekeepers' sheets.

With only one 4-hour event per year handicap distances are calculated from club performances in 25 mile events. Previous 4-hr events have shown that most riders average 82 % of their speed in 25 mile events. Where no times have been established in 25s these have to be based on 10-mile times, and these make the outcome less favourable. Vet on standard distances are calculated from published VTTA figures for 50 miles and 100 miles, since no official VTTA figures exist for 4 hours.
