Results of 4-Hour Time Trial - 8th September 2013

Another win for Tim Hastie with a distance only marginally less than he recorded last year. Another good turnout, with dry sunny conditions, although there was a cool breeze. David Newton would have been further up the order, but he went off course on leaving the DIRFT complex. He recorded 87.1 miles on his Garmin and this would have moved him up to 4th place. Marina Bloom set a new women's record, being 0.963 further than the record she established in 2008. Only one DNF, Patrick Weir coasted slowly back to the finishing circuit with defective gears, while Ryan Kenworthy stopped with almost an hour to go with a back problem.Jonathan Jordan stopped with a painful knee, but after a lengthy rest decided to rejoin the riders on the finishing circuit. Most riders will claim they measured a slightly greater distance than that listed below and that happens most years, particularly since Garmin type devices have become much more common. The 'error' is probably about 1%.
