Results for 3rd August 2005 - Course: K3/13.6

There can't be many clubs that run a hilly event in August and it probably doesn't appeal to those riders with a less favourable power-to-weight ratio. Nevertheless it was a pleasant warm evening, particularly for those who didn't have to pedal up Priors Marston's 1 in 7. Hywel Davies won the club event, although guest rider Scott Rose (Science in Sport.com) was 18 seconds quicker on the night. In the three previous years Hywel had recorded 34-32, 34-07 & 34-00 last year, so he easily broke his own record, but Scott's time is now a course record.

Welcome to new member Sean Newman who hit the ground running (not literally of course), finishing in 5th place, having previously shown good form in some of our recent events as a private trialist. The handicap result did not go to form, with Craig Middleton back in 11th place, while Adrian Wyatt claimed that his newly acquired wedding ring had slowed him down. The points competitions will now become tight around the top as riders' best 18 events count, so some will be dropping their worst events in the coming weeks.
