Wattbike Sessions at Lutterworth
Week 10 - 24th March 2015
Matt Jones's Race Report
In the final
session of the series, it was back to back long hard efforts in Zone 4 or above,
simulating race exertion as the build up to full speed was gradual and the finish
effort intense! Ideal training for the first race of the year, those that really
pushed themselves in this session will reap the rewards on Sunday. After a progressive
10 weeks, riders have been constantly increasing their threshold efforts to
improve their time trialling, with a difficult race at the end to really raise
the bar. The focus in this final week was always on a tough TT session, so a
brief 100 meter race was the order of the day. With Dave "The Powerhouse"
Elliott absent (clearly tapering for Sunday having already won the series) it
is was Luke Pugh taking his first win of the series in an impressive 5.2 seconds.
Good luck to everyone for
the upcoming TT season as it kicks off this weekend with the 5 miler at Willoughby.
I'm sure all of those Watt Bike sessions will set you all off on a flyer and
show that Rugby RCC is one of the fastest clubs in the land!
