Results for 8th June 2016 - Course: K10/10 Princethorpe

As times are rounded to the second it was officially a dead-heat for first place between Craig McKee and Ryan Kenworthy, although the print-out later revealed that Craig was 0.15 sec faster! However, it would require electronic timing to confidently achieve that level of accuracy and our club can't afford that - yet. With 7 riders under 22 minutes and 15 inside 23 it does confirm that times are coming down - and this was just a regular club event. Conditions were favourable, being pleasantly warm, but a shower at the start probably slowed the early numbers. The K10/10 course remains popular with riders, hence the healthy entry of 52 riders.

Since posting the results there have been questions as to why rider no.42 was shown as a DNF on the recorder's sheet but is credited with a time in the public version on the website. The reason is that the rider (Peter Wright) had a time recorded as he finished in a group of 4 riders, but as he finished he waved his hand and shouted ‘traffic’ so we assumed he had problems and may have taken a short course, therefore signalling a DNF. That’s what riders usually do when they don’t want to be included in the results. Later Peter explained that he hadn’t intended this, but was merely explaining his frustration! He's therefore included in the results. The moral of that story is not to take your hands off the bars and sit up as you cross the line!
