Results of 4-Hour Time Trial held Sunday 13th Sept 2009

It was a record entry for this event, with 34 riders starting, although three never made it to the finish. Pre-event favourite Hywel Davies pulled a valve on the A5 and had to wait to be picked up by Julie Cox who abandoned her ride when on course to set a PB, leaving Peter Wright the winner although closely challenged by Tim Hastie and Adrian Tayles. Marina Bloom was best lady, although 3 miles off the record time she set last year. There is a good reason why several riders often finish on 80 miles - that is because on lap 5 of the finishing circuit this coincides with the timing point next to the pub in Grandborough. With the larger entries in recent years a new method of recording times has been introduced for the timekeepers. This made the job easier for the timekeepers, with less chance for error, but it did cause a major delay in processing the results afterwards..
